Request for an ARM64 VM #37

I request access to an ARM64 VM so I can work on some SIG/AltArch related work. Following is the list of items I will be using this VM for:

  • Build variations of upstream packages needed for SIG/AltArch (u-boot, kernel, other SBC-related tools)
  • Building and testing generic disk images

The above list is not exhaustive. I will be using this VM for more RL-related work as it pops up, but for now, this is all that I need.

Specs I need:

  • 6 to 8 cores (not threads, real cores; though most ARM vendors don't have threads ¯\(ツ)/¯)
  • 8 to 16 GB of RAM (I prefer 12 GB since it is the perfect sweet spot)
  • 512 GB of available disk space (will have some Nix tools on it and they eat space like nobody's business)
  • Location preference is as following (in the ascending order of highest preference to lower-most preference):
    • Vadodara/Baroda, India (not aware of any DCs here but closest metro city to me, so shooting my shot)
    • Ahmedabad, India (not aware of any DCs here but another close metro city to me, so shooting my shot)
    • Mumbai/Bombay, India
    • Delhi, India
    • Bangaluru/Bangalore, India
    • Hyderabad, India
    • Anywhere in America
  • Guest OS in the VM should be RL 9 of-course
  • I'm sure this is obvious but mentioning it here for clarity: SSH access to the VM is mandatory

Special asks:

  • Please set the non-root user's username to pratham (it's just easier this way due to my muscle memory)
  • On that note, please add pratham to the wheel group (appliance-creator runs only as root/with sudo)
  • Any initial password that you have set, please send me via Mattermost (@thefossguy on MM)
  • Not a need but network speed of 200+ MiB/s would be nice :)
  • Since this VM won't be used 24x7 (only when I need to make sure that my stuff builds correctly on "standard hardware"), I request that when I shut it down, it doesn't turn on automatically. And also a way for me to easily turn it on when the need be (i.e. without pinging any Infrastructure people to turn it on again).

My pubkeys:
