Mirror manager was initially setup on EL 8.3 on a much older version. It was also heavily customized to work with and deal with the differences between Rocky Linux and Fedora Linux (where the project originally comes from). Since then, Mirror Manager has had a few updates upstream, and with the upcoming maintenance-only release of 8.10 in 2024, it may be a good idea to upgrade it.

  • Determining changes upstream that have been made (such as important enhancements or transitions from python to rust)
  • Determining custom changes made for our use case
  • Determine how to take the above custom changes and put them into the new mirror manager instance
  • While not required, moving to Rocky Linux 9 may be ideal due to 8.10's maintenance-only release.
  • Containerize mirror manager
